SUPPORT Dedham Vale Society (Mr J R Drury)

Summary:

Policy DM7: Agricultural Development and Diversification - this is welcomed particularly in the changed economic environment where the governmental approach to blanket subsidies may well change. The countryside is already suffering from lanes, designed for the horse and cart, being used by massive agricultural machines and large commercial vehicles - the problems of access must be addressed as part of the planning process.

OBJECT Mr. William Sunnucks

Summary:

This policy is unduly restrictive. Farms need to diversify with the minimum of interference, and local authorities should not be tying farmers up with the need to produce "satisfactory diversification plans".
The policy could simply say that development within existing farm curtilages will be supported unless there are adverse impacts for neighbouring properties, the highways or the public.
