IRARA has long campaigned for the Orchard to be protected and managed for the existing wildlife interest and to become a valuable asset for the local community and wider. We object to the allocation of the Orchard for development.
If the Council retains the policy WC4 we believe the loss of complete Orchard is inevitable. Measures are needed to guarantee the security of the remaining Orchard land. This can be effected by any development only being approved if the ownership of the remaining land is transferred to a body with the Orchard's wildlife and value to the community at its heart.
