OBJECT Barton Willmore (Paul Newton)
Policy TC2 refers to the Town Centre Primary Shopping Area. However, the Proposals Map Key does not identify a Primary Shopping Area, but does show a Town Centre Main Shopping Area. It is unclear if they are intended to be the same, but for the avoidance of doubt the Key should be updated to refer to the Primary Shopping Area.

SUPPORT GL Hearn Ltd (Mr Jack Brudenell)
Policy TC2 recognises that the town centre is more than just retail, which is welcomed as is the criteria based approach where planning applications are required. However, whilst not specifically referred to in TC2 the supporting text (para 6.6) notes that the Primary Shopping Area will no longer distinguish between primary and secondary frontage. The resultant flexible approach to the treatment of town centres uses within the PSA is welcomed but to ensure the plan is sound further work may be necessary to justify such an approach.

COMMENT Myland Community Council (Mrs Harris)
MCC supports the sentiments expressed regarding the town centre and would like to see previously published SPD on e.g. Street Scene, shop frontages, a better town centre, fully brought to the fore. It is suggested that key historical assets such as St Botolphs Priory should be exposed as part of redevelopment to become a key feature. Similarly, the Vineyard Gate redevelopment should protect the Roman Wall by making it a feature within the design.
