Representation 990 on Preferred Options Local Plan by Mr. Michael Broderick

Support / Object: OBJECT
Document Link: Preferred Options Local Plan - Sustainable Settlements, Mersea Island, SS17a: Mersea Housing and Employment
Representation: I object to this proposal.

350 new homes would bring approximately 1,100 new full-time residents to the island - a 15% increase in the town's population and an 11% increase in the number of homes on the island - with no corresponding increase in public services.

With an already over-subscribed doctor's surgery, no police presence and no police station on the island, very limited public parking, and concerns that the sewage demand could harm the estuary, the proposed development places the health, welfare, and safety of the residents on Mersea Island at risk.

It should not be allowed to go forward.
