Representation: The council need to review the ACTUAL number of residents on the island and take into account what the tourist industry adds to the overstretched infrastructure. To add to these problems with the additional number of homes proposed would be detrimental to the major fishing industry and cause a major health and safety issue.

Original submission

The number of new homes proposed would bring a serious health and safety issue to the island. We have a nuclear power plant only 2 miles away and pending proposals for that. The major fishing industry would suffer from the over stretched sewage provision and it is already monitoring the water quality with monthly dialogue with Anglian water. The oyster and fishing industry is key to the viability of the island and apart from this, employment is limited locally with most people having to commute to local towns or London. The school is already full up, the doctors health centre struggling to provide care, and already there are traffic issues of getting on and off the island. During the summer the numbers increase dramatically with the holiday parks and caravan sites and rubbish in abundance tipped in and around the beaches. I wish to object to the magnitude of the increase and would welcome improvement to the infrastructure instead.
