I object strongly to this new development on the grounds that Mersea Island already has wholly inadequate infrastructure to cope with the *existing* population, owing to rapidly increasingly population: the following are under severe pressure right now: school, doctors, dentists, police (none!), road maintenance (neglected), road junctions (highly dangerous on East Road already), traffic (unsustainable levels), parking (on narrow residential roads, in town centre and at supermarkets), post office (downsized), bank (due to close). With few jobs available on Mersea, the new residents would be commuting to jobs off the island, increasing traffic and congestion on Strood at high tide.
