Representation 823 on Preferred Options Local Plan by Ms Megan Graham

Support / Object: OBJECT
Document Link: Preferred Options Local Plan - Sustainable Settlements, Mersea Island, SS17a: Mersea Housing and Employment
Representation: The Council states" The Island has sufficient levels of shops, services and employment to be self sufficient". Two small shops, services that cannot cope and so few jobs that the majority commute. This statement has been made with little investigation. There would be increased traffic with safety issues as roads would have to be widened and junctions upgraded to cope, at a large cost to the council. The Island does not have the infrastructure or capacity to enable another possible 1000 residents.. Doctors, schools, roads, water and sewerage would all have to be upgraded at a huge expense.
