Firstly I wish to raise my displeasure in terms of the communications re the local plans. Given their potential impact I would have expected a much better communication plan. Additionally as a reasonably ok IT user I found the objection process rather unclear, unhelpful and seemingly hidden!

In terms of the proposed development I object strongly to all those proposed.
Mersea island is a recognised local area of natural beauty and known for being quaint. I believe that the proposed developments will effect both and impact the islands tourism income as well as its culture.
The infrastructure is often cited as being poor, with numerous pot holes and demand on water and sewage in its current state. The school is full and parking etc is also a problem already.
I note that the local waste centre is reducing its scope to take on waste and that the doctor surgery is already at capacity.
I am also concerned with the introduction of further affordable housing, given the associated crime and loss of merseas police station and then police presence.
To me the plans will ruin the very beauty of Mersea island changing it forever and creating ugly new homes with likely unemployed affordable housing users who will not be likely to commute to Colchester to work.
