There is already too much pressure on public services on Mersea Island. The doctors & dentist surgeries are already over crowded and it is difficult to get an appointment. Traffic is a big issue with parking making it difficult to move as it is. Beyond this... There are great things to be found in a busy crowded town, but if I want those things I will go to a busy crowded town, Mersea offers a different life style it is about community, and space. A place where our children and vulnerable adults can live in harmony with this beautiful natural landscape, please don't spoil it by overloading everything with this extra housing. We live here because of what is already here. Everything is so depressingly boiled down to pounds, shillings & pence - You only have to look at the recent Brexit 'protest' vote to know that people don't want ever increasing numbers, they/we want to chose how we live in the places we love, only the big housing companies will benefit from this & we (the tax payers) will all suffer from the increased crush on services & the increased ecological footprint on this beautiful Island. Come on Colchester do the right thing.
