Representation 724 on Preferred Options Local Plan by Mr Shaun Mills

Document Link: Preferred Options Local Plan - Sustainable Settlements, Mersea Island, SS17a: Mersea Housing and Employment
Representation: Existing infrastructure is insufficient to cope with present number of residents + visitors.
No allowance for 10month residents in Caravan parks, more likely 12m residents paying no council tax.
350 Houses could equate to 700+ children of varying ages - school cannot cope with additional 7 children let alone 350.
No Secondary school on Island.
Sec106 obligations would end up being utilised by South & East London councils who pay more for their social housing, once again will destroy the ambience of the Island.
Mersea is unique & therefore should be treated this way & not as a 'cash cow' for Colchester Borough Council.
