Original submission

The current infrastructure cannot cope with more housing. East Road is very narrow with a very poor road surface and inadequate pavements and no cycle lanes? Also drains are blocked and floods after heavy rain. Dawes lane is substandard with no pavement and too narrow. With increased traffic the queues for crossing the Stood at high tides are horrendous and take a long time to clear. No ambulance or police on the island so a isolated community. Stroud needs raising as a first step. Oaklands Road link road needs opening to East Road as Mill Road is too narrow for buses and Lorries to pass without driving on the pavement. Pavement is too narrow and substandard. No cycle path. Many small collisions occur here but no major injuries yet. Current doctors surgery is too small and cannot cope currently. Car parks in both supermarkets are too small. This leads to car parking on yellow lines and narrow local streets. This makes access difficult for public transport. Sorry but no more housing until improvements in infrastructure are made.
