My wife and I have lived on the island for nearly 19 years. We have noticed increased difficulty in obtaining appointments for both the doctors and the dentists, with virtually no parking facilities for either. The 2 supermarket car parks are also overrun, with the potential of 350 houses, in time approx 700 + extra cars we don't believe the roads will cope. If you are looking to attract young families to the island with only a primary/junior school already bursting at the seams where will the very young go for their education. For senior schools you have to go to Colchester or beyond which will mean even more school buses on the Mersea Road which already accounts for a significant amount of accidents each year. Do you have plans to widen Dawes Lane, make the Strood Junction safer or indeed raise the Strood above the high water to remove queuing for over an hour. I think not! The Island can barely cope with the influx to the caravan parks in the summer let alone an extra permanent 1000 people.
