Taking away an essential part of island life. I.e the peace and tranquility

Hi there. I have been a Mersea resident all my life and I truly love where I live. I love to travel to places all over the world but I always love coming home, I call it paradise island.

With the proposed new 350 new build houses being talked about I have to voice my objection. Firstly our services such as the doctors and school would struggle to cope with the increased numbers. Already it is difficult to get an appointment at the doctors. I don't get many days off during the week and one time I took a day off to go to the doctors and I rang at 8am at opening hours and the line was busy. I kept ringing and st 8.20am I got through but all appointment for that day had gone. I therefore lost a days money at work and didn't get the appointment that I needed.

Secondly. I believe that a part of what makes Mersea as brilliant and special as it is, is the fact that we are a place away from the hustle of the rest of the world. I love the fact that no one goes through Mersea to get anywhere. It's not a throughroad to anywhere and you only go there to visit or go home. It's beautiful in its tranquility.

Mersea is a great place for children to grow up and a place I feel safe and that I feel safe for my kids to grow up. Potentially we would be opening up the potential for an increase in crime and other antisocial behaviour with so many new houses and people. We could be risking a huge part of what makes Mersea so great.

I ask you to please reconsider what you are doing. Taking a part of our island away so a developer can make a lot of money would be a terrible shame.
