Representation 412 on Preferred Options Local Plan by Mrs Julie Matthews

Support / Object: OBJECT
Document Link: Preferred Options Local Plan - Sustainable Settlements, Mersea Island, SS17a: Mersea Housing and Employment
Representation: It appears that the council are misguided in their aims of building houses to meet a government target, rather than maintaining and improving the quality of people's lives. Mersea is small and fragile environment which is already under threat from cars and people (visitors) which block our roads and car parks for most of the year. Leave mersea alone, our roads have big potholes,we have no police etc.

Original submission

I object strongly to this building plan because it will cause severe disruption to moving on and off island, as only one road. Very dangerous in emergencies. The school will be overcrowded as will doctors, dentist etc. The sewage works are at capacity at present. We are a small island that cannot take any more houses. All are facilities are overloaded now. The road networks as they stand at present are working above their capacity, and any further building will result in gridlock. Life will become a misery, which would be contrary to you objectives of improving life for Essex people.
