As many of you know last year it was proposed that around 300 homes would be built on the current Battleswick Farm site. This was fortunately thrown out thanks to tough opposition from local Rowhedgians and Cllr Mike Lilley. We also stated a petition in old heath last year to oppose this. However a new proposal has been put in This new proposal will add 60 homes on the plot of land off Rowhedge Road. although we do oppose all housing we still do not feel this is the right area to build new developments on. We also fear that it will lead to more development in the future if this development is permitted. Our biggest concerns are the infrastructure and traffic. Currently the schools in the area are full. That includes Rowhedge Primary School and Old Heath Primary. The GP surgery is also full to capacity until more investment is put into both areas we cannot expect new people to move in and be expected to send their children to a school on the other side of town. Traffic will be a major issue with the Rowhedge Wharf development already bringing in 300 homes that will add around 1000 cars to the local area. Therefore all three of us oppose this new proposed development. However we need your help as well. This proposal is now live on the Colchester Council website. you can make your opposition known by commenting and talking about the lack of infrastructure. If you do not have the internet you can write to Planning Policy Rowan House 33 sheepen Road Colchester CO3 3UG. Also as you will see overleaf you can sign our petition to oppose this. You may also request a poster or garden board opposing this. We have already started our petition in Old Heath and advised that everyone opposed to the proposed houses write their comments on the CBC website. At our last glance the numbers were only 36 so we need everyone who reads this to make their comments known, working alongside the Parish Council we are also looking for as many signatures for our petition as possible
