Representation: There is scope for a higher level of provision having regard to the strategic location of Eight Ash Green in relation to Colchester and in particular its accessibility on a main radial route.

Consideration should be given to land south of Halstead Road referred to as Site 063 (RNW09) in the Settlement Boundary Review - but amended to exclude the land on the west site of Seven Star Green.

Therefore a major revision to the Seven Star Green Settlement Boundary is proposed and not its deletion as proposed in Appendix 1.

Original submission

In separate representations we have advocated, inter alia, an 'Amended Spatial Strategy' that gives greater emphasis to the inner ring of satellite villages around Colchester - which includes Eight Ash Green. The ring of satellite villages - to varying degrees - already possess the basic community infrastructure to provide a platform for additional growth which itself would generate investment in improved infrastructure. Villages forming this ring are also strategically well-placed to deliver improved short distance public transport links along the radials into Colchester - in this case the A1124 - as part of a strategy to achieve significant modal shift from private to public sector transport.

Whilst we appreciate the reasoning behind a proposed level of growth of approximately 150 further dwellings as being proportionate, we consider there is scope for a higher level of provision having regard to the strategic location of Eight Ash Green in relation to Colchester and in particular its accessibility on a main radial route.

We respectfully request active consideration be given to land south of Halstead Road referred to as Site 063 (RNW09) in the Settlement Boundary Review - but amended to exclude the land on the west site of Seven Star Green. This representation therefore relates only to the land east of Seven Star Green and south of Halstead Road.

In seeking this allocation, we envisage a major revision to the Seven Star Green Settlement Boundary and not its deletion as proposed in Appendix 1.

We will liaise with the Eight Ash Green Neighbourhood Plan Group to explore the possibility of future housing provision on the site.
