Original submission

I was surprised and shocked to hear about the proposed 350 additional new homes to be built in West Mersea. We are only a small island with one road on and off the island.
1. If a new nuclear power station was to be constructed at Bradwell and problems occurred the evacuation of Mersea would be chaotic owing to only one road off the island that being at the mercy of high tides.
2. The doctors surgery is hard pressed to cope at present imagine an extra 1000 patients.
3. the local school is at full capacity so more children would be bussed to Colchester resulting in more environmental pollution.
4. parking in West Mersea is inadequate so this would be exacerbated by more cars the sewage works is already at full capacity. lack of a permanent police presence would be a worrying factor for everyone, with the increase finally the land designated for building more houses in a green belt surely there must be brown filed site nearer Colchester
Yours faithfully
Mr smith
