Original submission

After looking at the plans and attending the meeting I cannot find any positive reasons for this proposal however there are many reasons against it:
1. roads from East and West Mersea converge onto a single road, crossing the strood. This is the only way to exit the island. At high tides this road is impassable causing tailbacks in all directions. More houses more cars more chaos
2. Any possible evacuation of the island due to problems with the nearby power station and proposed new one, would be impossible to achieve.
3. Our services on the island are stretched already , sewage works running at their full potential, no police presence, little parking provision for the shops , doctors school etc and no where to make more. doctors surgery full all the time. poor public transport. The proposed sites for the new homes are too far away from the village amenities for most new home owners necessitating the use of cars to get about. with all the extra emissions from the extra traffic on and around mersea and on and off the island what about the environment.

yours faithfully
D J Smith
