Representation: It is widely known that some caravans are occupied for 11 months of each year and are the main home of the occupiers. When full details are published of the number of residents in these caravans this figure should be added to the total number of Mersea residents. A survey should be carried out of all caravan sites in Mersea.

Mersea residents are extremely disturbed by the proposal and are worried about the effect of increased housing on our surgery, sewage and traffic, etc.

Original submission

I suggest that an in depth survey b carried out of all caravan sites in Mersea offering long term occupation. I would ask for the results to be made known to Mersea residents and publicised.

It is widely known - although denied by West Mersea Town Council - that some caravans are occupied for 11 months of each year and are the main home of the occupiers. When full details are published of the number of residents in these caravans this figure should be added to the total number of Mersea residents. It is also known that children from the caravan sites have attended Mersea School although again, this was strenuously denied by our Mayor at the recent public meeting.

From the numbers attending the recent meeting it would appear that Mersea residents are extremely disturbed by the proposal and are worried about the effect of increased housing on our surgery, sewage and traffic, to mention a few.

I regret to say that I feel our town council is not fighting our corner sufficiently strongly, so perhaps the people of Mersea Island can appeal to your higher authority?!
