I am against this plan for so many reasons: we are a small island stretched already with the infrastructure. 1)GP surgery cannot cope already waiting 3 weeks for non urgent appointments even blood test. 90 taken off list. 2) Roads, traffic new too mud especially when high tide. Pot holes everywhere. one way on/off island. could be 500/600 more vehicles 3). School, not coping. some children not in correct classes.
4).No policing so more houses means more people, children etc. more More men island residents, bonfires on beach now and burglaries 5). Boats Bikes etc going missing sewage and recycling cannot cope. vans always goint to send sewage out.
6) Many more issues regarding the caravan camps. Do we need 5 camps and outdoor centre whom all have cars using facilities like recycling and some even sewage outside camps. Now 10-11 months of the year expansion on camps so will be even more than the 1400 there already.
7) Work -there is no work now on the island for residents all new housing would mean all going to and from Mersea so that means at least 500 cars back and forth across the strood. One accident recently completely closed the road. always worse at high tides. 8).350 houses means at least 1000 people 500/600 cars and possibly 100 or more children. some needing to go to Mersea School. 9) If some houses are built some should be for elderly to free up 3/4 bed houses . and for Mersea people to get on the ladder. We are a small Island and need some space. In canvy Island they have no land left, cannot be like this for our special little Island. I am against more housing here.
