Original submission

The purpose of this letter is to register my objection to any future housing development(s) on Mersea Island. There have been many objections registered already but one environmental issue seems to have been missed that of flooding in the event of acres of farmland being covered in concrete. This is a national problem which has been highlighted in the north and west counties of England and lessons should be learnt from these events. Surrounding areas of the proposed sites would be flooded despite any attempts to increase drainage. As a retired surveyor for an insurance company I have witnessed this time and again. Further, who are the proposed occupants of the proposed houses and from where do they come? The Island does not have the infrastructure to cater for anymore residents and is at capacity and overloaded during the holiday season. any further development would be an environmental disaster and I am astounded that CBC has even considered Mersea Island in its Planning
