Representation: The infrastructure is a mess so there should be no more housing. The analysis of residents does not take into account people living in caravans. Parking is a problem. The doctors surgery is at capacity. The roads have pot holes. There is no reassurance that more than 350 homes will not be built. New development would destroy Mersea Island.

Original submission

As I can not access your web site and I missed your poorly advertised meeting in West Mersea, I am reduced to writing this letter which I ask to be noted as objecting to the proposed building of 350 houses on West Mersea.
Whilst I realise people must be housed, why put them where the basic
infrastructure is in a mess. I believe your analysis of residents here does not include the Caravan Parks. Why? Parking is REAL problem; the Doctors has removed people from its "list". There are no police and the sewage system is bursting at the seams and regularly does. Our roads are a mess with many potholes and if the Well House Green development is anything to go by, the 350 houses will be more than that!
Mersea Island is a special place and this proposed development will destroy it completely. There must be space somewhere on which to build a new town with the necessary facilities without ruining a vibrant village.
