Representation: Achnacone Drive is a quiet cul de sac. The road is not wide enough for construction traffic.

The proposed development would all lead to a reduced quality of life for the residents of this cul de sac- increased volume of traffic, increased noise, more pollution, less safe for children and pets, difficulties for visitors to park.

Original submission

We are opposed to the plans for housing along the B1508 in Braiswick (88 homes on Colchester Golf Club land) for the following reasons:

General:
* The B1508 is already a busy road and is not very wide, particularly at the end of the road nearest to the station. Residents can park their cars at certain times of the day and this causes traffic congestion from Beauty at the Bay down to Colchester Station. There are often traffic hold ups in this area and an increased amount of traffic would make this worse. This could lead to an increase of traffic using Bakers Lane to avoid traffic jams. It took several months for the damaged bridge on Bakers Lane to be rebuilt. An increase in traffic along this road could lead to future damage to the bridge.
* The developments would affect the local environment and have a detrimental effect on the wildlife. The area around Colchester Golf Club is full of wildlife such as birds, squirrels, foxes, badgers, etc.

Specific to the building of 30 homes with access via Achnacone Drive:
* Achnacone Drive is a quiet cul de sac. The road is not wide and construction traffic using the road would cause problems for the residents: increased volume of traffic, increased noise, more pollution, less safe for children and pets, difficulties for visitors to park. These would all lead to a reduced quality of life for the residents of this cul de sac.
* Achnacone Drive has a number of potholes and construction traffic would worsen this. For example, reference number 2447274 (Chelmsford County Council): this pothole outside our property was reported on 11th February 2016 and no action has been taken to repair it yet.
