Original submission

I wish to object strongly to the proposed further development of Mersea Island and the extension to caravan sites and opening times. In 1974 all residents of Mersea were sent a letter if sirens sounded they were advised to evacuate the island and proceed too TLA school at Monkwick. all building halted except for minor infill and suggestion that the strood should be raised. the above has been abandoned population markedly increased and the strood floods with an increase frequency . It is the only road off Mersea
But Now- very recently the Chinese delay at Hinkley Point announced they would build at Bradwell in Essex instead (radio 4)
A) The Strood has not been raised
B) Rising tide levels will endanger this build
C) Proximity of the epicentre of the 1988 earthquake to this site should be investigated
D) possible damage tot he oyster industry
Facilites under strain now
A) Sewage works-unable to cope from May to Autumn tankers of sewage are taken via cross lane to Colchester for processing
B) Water pressure low-especially in the summer
c) School short of space for primary-Older bus or parental transport-Colchester,tiptree, Ipswich on a daily basis-pollution by vehciles fumes
d) Lack of employment on mersea-leads to even more car ,van etc journeys to Colchester and beyond CBC note more pollution in Colchester and environs.
E)The strood is sinking now.
Please halt the further development in mersea CBC may regard it as a cash cow house and business rates.Beach jut Rates 1400 caravan Rates car park fees. do not destroy the charm of island any more
your faithfully
A H Davy
