Representation: Disproportionate allocation of 125 new dwellings in the village. Unreasonable extra pressure on the village and its harmful impact would change its whole feel and aspect for all residents. I do not believe there is a need within the village for extra 125 dwellings possible 400-500 occupants which include children. The village facilities are not sufficient to support an increase in occupants. extra traffic caused by theses schemes would cause further problems to the village roads. There is no village doctor or healthcare facilities. I urge you to strongly reconsider downwards the number of new dwellings

Original submission

I am very disturbed to see the CBC Preferred Options for Langham include a disproportionate allocation of 125 new dwellings in the village, which could well compound up further when developers try to increase the number of units on individual sites.

I also believe that this large number of dwellings would put unreasonable extra pressure on the village and its harmful impact would change its whole feel and aspect for all the residents.
I strongly put forward my views on the above for your reconsideration:

(a) Langham is very much a rural village and this substantial increase in the number of dwellings would destroy its local character at the same time increasing the dwelling and population by as much as 25%
(b) I do NOT believe there is a need within the village for this extra 125 properties and the possible 400-500 occupants which includes children
(c) The village facilities are not sufficient to support an increase in occupants
(d) The extra traffic caused by these schemes would cause further problems to the village roads and residents
(e) The village primary school has NO capacity to accommodate extra children
(f) School Road is currently under extreme traffic pressure and congestion particularly during school times with the existing parents accessing the school and the traffic movements to and from the commercial units in this road. The major two new estates are in School Road,
(g) There is no village doctor or healthcare facilities
(h) Our local village would change for the worst and become too large and urbanised losing all its present character and will be changed forever by these extra housing developments.
(i) These is also a concern as to whether the existing sewage drainage and disposal facilities are capable of being upgraded economically to accommodate this increase in proposed dwellings.

As a long term ai1lhappy resident wanting the best for the future of Langham I consider the preferred options to be completely in appropriate mainly due to the excess quantity of dwellings being put forward which would destroy our rural village community forever.
I urge you to strongly reconsider downwards the number of new dwellings currently being put forward for Langham when there are other villages all around us ( i.e. Dedham) who should and could take their share!
