Representation 21 on Preferred Options Local Plan by Mrs Charlotte Sanderson

Document Link: Preferred Options Local Plan - Sustainable Settlements, Rowhedge, SS14: Land to the south of Battleswick Farm Rowhedge Road
Representation: This village has ALREADY supported new development on areas which were left unloved (such as the scrapyard and old wharf area) - it has meant the village has grown and the services to support local people has suffered. Local farm land enhances the characteristics of the village, its not an eyesore or under-used. The doctors surgery is full, the school and early years provision is also full - all without the additional houses being finished on the wharf development. Further housing on Battleswick Farm would further cripple the village.

This village has ALREADY supported new development on areas which were left unloved (such as the scrapyard and old wharf area) - it has meant the village has grown and the services to support local people has suffered. Local farm land enhances the characteristics of the village, its not an eyesore or under-used. The doctors surgery is full, the school and early years provision is also full - all without the additional houses being finished on the wharf development. Further housing on Battleswick Farm would further cripple the village and blur the lines between a village and the rest of Colchester. In addition local people have dealt with enough disruption and noise from the wharf development that they should be allowed to now enjoy their village, including beautiful views of farm land, without the fear of even further disruption forced on them by people who do not live within the village. I have lived in Rowhedge all my life and as a child visited the farm regularly, I want to give my son the same opportunities to see farm machinery and farm scenes rather than just more and more houses.
