Representation: Mersea Island would not be able to cope with the proposed addition of such large new housing sites. It looks more likely that Bradwell Nuclear Station will be built and consequently an emergency evacuation would be impossible with no extra road widening and bridge installation.

My name is Steven Glen and I live at 31 Dawes Lane CO58HJ - which is next to the proposed building site. We experience a daily drop in water pressure both early morning between 6am to 9am and evening between 6pm to 8pm. if such a large amount of new properties is proposed then the water and sewage system should be completely renewed. Dawes lane is also not a wide enough road to take the extensive road haulage and traffic proposed. My historic house was built in 1904 and is less than one meter from the road so would need special arrangements and compensation if affected. Mersea Island and its connections to Colchester and other surrounding villages does not have wide enough roads to take much more commuting traffic so the consequences of an enlarged community would mean all connecting roads would need to be widened. As of this week it looks more likely that Bradwell is going to be a new Nuclear site and so of course an emergency evacuation would be made impossible by the proposed enlargement.
