Mersea Island is unique, and these proposals can only serve to ruin its character, beauty and bio-diversity. It is already groaning under the weight of all the infilling that has taken place over the last 30+ years. More recently it has become a very popular tourist attraction. This, in turn, has led to the existing infra-structure being stretched to breaking point. The addition of these 350 homes, together with the concomitant increase in visits by friends and family, will further ruin its character. This is a case of 'killing the goose which lays the golden egg!'
