Representation: I object. we do not have enough facilities for these extra houses, the Island cannot cope. This proposed idea coupled with the fact people live on the caravan parks already will ruin the Island, it will not cope!

I object to the planned 350 houses on Mersea Island. There are not enough facilities on the Island as it is with the current population, for example I had to wait over a month for an appointment at the Dentist and it is very difficult to get a Dr appointment, particularly when you work full time. The 2 small supermarkets often run out of produce very quickly. There is not enough reliable public transport to and from the island which result in so much more traffic and given that there is only one road on and off the Island that is covered by the sea regularly this would cause mayhem and incredibly long tailbacks. A number of times over the summer it has taken me over an hour to get home from Colchester because of traffic lights on the strood for roadworks and this is with the current population, with more people this will be even worse. There are already lots of people living in caravans almost year round who are using up our facilities. An even higher population is going to ruin what we have and the Island cannot cope. How on earth is the school going to cope with so many more new students.
