Representation: Building on battleswick farm would be detrimental to the village because the roads are not suitable. Schools, Doctors Surgery are full. Loss of land and Historic Buildings. Flooding would be created in the Birch Brook area

Original submission

The village of Rowhedge, in the parish of East Donyland ,has a population of just under 2,000, 828 dwellings , with another 256 under construction on the Dock development.
Building on Battleswick Farm would be detrimental to the village because: -

the roads are not sui{}Qble for any more traffic *

the schools here and locally and the Doctors ' surgeries are full *

good land for feeding us will be destroyed along with historic buildings) even more flooding would be created in the Birch Brook area.

As John Leather wrote in the introduction to his mother' s book (Margaret Leather Saltwater Village) "Rowhedge preserves its identity by the belt of farmland between
:it and once rural Old Heath, now a suberb of Colchester and , further west. .....land
owned by the Army ......Long may these barriers remain unspoiled. April 1977

Yours faithfully,

(Mrs E.B.Trellis)
