I was amazed to discover that Beverley McLean had no knowledge of the private road, Brierley Paddocks, being owned by Brierley Paddocks Management Ltd.
There are 5 detached house in Brierley Paddocks and the owners of said properties jointly own this road.
We are only required to allow access to the field for farm machinery. and we do not agree to our road being used for construction traffic.
I fail to see how a "mix of housing "complies with the houses being compatible with those in our road and Seaview Avenue, where the houses are predominantly four bedroom and detached.
The field is a flood plain and if concreted over would present a serious risk of flooding in it's environs.
Access to Mersea Island is limited as the single carriageway road is subject to flooding at high tide. In the event of a disaster at such times we are restricted to using the voluntary air ambulance and RNLI to evacuate the Island.
Over development of Mersea Island poses a serious risk to the oyster and fishing industries, as well as wild life habitats. Destruction of these is a threat to the tourist industry which is based on Mersea still having traditional industries, farmland and a wealth of natural surroundings to be enjoyed by walkers. sailors, cyclists, artists, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Therefore I vehemently oppose this proposed plan and urge that democracy be upheld.
