Representation: Ripping up a field of food to build housing is ludicrous. Our village is due to increase in size by almost a third, due to approved building plans. We cannot take any more housing. The school, doctors and roads are at capacity. I say "no" to building on historic Battleswick Farm.

Original submission

This is farm land belonging to a long established and successful farm. The field is currently used for a barley crop. It makes no sense to rip up a field used for food to build more houses. In the next few months our village will increase in size by a third, due to approved building plans. We are taking our share of new houses and cannot sustain more. My child starts at the village school in September and will be in a class of 31. Some children in the village could not get a place. The school is already full and has no space to expand. To schedule an appointment with a doctor is increasingly difficult- they are very busy. This is before the residents of the 300 new homes move in. Traffic in the village is getting ridiculous. You cannot park outside the village shops or along the waterfront. This historic village was not designed for cars, let alone so many. We need to preserve the unique character of our village, so I say "no" to building on Battleswick Farm.
