As a resident of the village of Langham, I am shocked to understand that the CBC Preferred Options document recommends the development of 125 new properties in the village. Having been involved in several consultations on this subject over the past couple of years, and ultimately signing up to a plan that included the addition of around 85 properties to the village over the entire course of the planning period I can only conclude that these consultations are a complete waste of time, and paying lip service to democracy.
Naturally any inhabitant of a village resides there because of the rural location, and the sense of associated community - and naturally any threat to this lifestyle choice is viewed with alarm. However, I believe that the residents of Langham embraced the need for additional housing in the Borough, in concluding a steady addition of 85 properties, over time, would meet the Borough housing needs whilst preserving the character of the village and its environment. It would also allow the required infrastructure to develop in line with demand.
It seems that CBC's view of reasonableness is at odds with that of the population of Langham, and that your response to our considered views is the immediate development of 125 properties (a 30% increase in housing)!
I would urge you to re-consider your preferred options for Langham. Not only are they entirely contrary to the democratically sought and documented views of the village's residents, but represent an effective urbanization of the village, and will place demands on facilities and infrastructure that are excessive and unsustainable. Why are you so apparently intent on destroying the villages in the Borough?!
