Representation: I submit that any large housing increase for Mersea island are premature without a thorough and comprehensive risk assessment as to the required means of mass escape in the event of a nuclear emissions escape from Bradwell. Such assessment will have to be approved by the Mersea Town Council and the residents of the island

Original submission

I have noted the Mersea Island policy SS17 and in particular the proposal to allocate land for 350 new homes and land fronting Dawes Lane and Cross Lane.

Having within the last few minutes listened to the BBC news that the government has indicated its willingness to allow the construction of new nuclear power stations in Hickney and Sizewell with a possible third at Bradwell, I submit that any large housing increase for Mersea island are premature without a thorough and comprehensive risk assessment as to the required means of mass escape in the event of a nuclear emissions escape from Bradwell. Such assessment will have to be approved by the Mersea Town Council and the residents of the island.
