Representation 158 on Preferred Options Local Plan by Mrs Helen Parr

Support / Object: OBJECT
Document Link: Preferred Options Local Plan - Sustainable Settlements, Mersea Island, SS17a: Mersea Housing and Employment
Representation: Objection is based on the following:
1. access being too restricted and meeting a busy crossroads causing congestion and being a traffic safety issue
2. infrastructure not able to support 350 new homes, in particular the school , the doctor's surgery and the single road access on to and off the island

Original submission

I object to the current proposals on the following grounds:
1. access through Brierley Paddock on to East Road is close to a busy crossroads and likely to cause traffic congestion and to be a safety hazard
2. 350 homes on these two sites cannot be supported by the current infrastructure on Mersea Island. In particular, the current school is already up to capacity, the doctor's surgery has already taken 90 patients from their books as they are full ; and the flow of traffic on to and off the island on the only access road causes numerous delays.
