I strongly object to development on both sites for the following reasons:
Green belt - I understood the land by Dawes Lane is Green Belt. The aim of green belt is to prevent urban sprawl by keeping land permanently open; the essential characteristics of Green Belts are their openness and their permanence and to safeguard the countryside from encroachment. So how is this land even being considered?
Visual impact - Another two jammed overdeveloped housing estates would have a massive negative effect on the character of the existing neighbourhood.
Land Drainage - There are already on-going land drainage problems on the field next to Dawes Lane. Mersea Island is built on clay and cannot sustain the drainage from another two estates in this area.
Doctors - The Doctors surgery is under strain now and has had to reduce the number of patients it is responsible for so will never cope with approximately another 1000+ residents.
School - not big enough to accommodate more children.
Police - no police presence.
Traffic Congestion - There is increasing traffic congestion wherever you go on the island, which increases massively in the summer months. The shops are hard to access due to traffic congestion and an increase in population would just add to this problem.
