A strategic local plan should not require demolition of an established residential property to meet the housing shortages in Colchester. There is already scope to increase the size of the Chesterwell development and hence no need to build on recreational open space. It is also not possible to provide the necessary boundary protection to the golf course with this density of development. This proposal will change the amenity to residence and users of the golf course making these developments totally unnecessary and contrary to Policy DM17.
