Having lived in the village for some 35 years my family and I have enjoyed the family life and the community spirit in layer.
Layer de la Haye is in danger of losing its village appeal and almost becoming swallowed by Colchester town.
If the proposed 50 dwellings are built, this would have a major impact within the village, there would be at least 100 additional cars, two per household possibly more, service vehicles, post, refuge collection vehicles and of course delivery vehicles.
There are already many vehicles within the estate parked on roadsides.
There are no pathways currently in the Folley, which is often used as a race track by would be local racing drivers, so additional cars would increase the hazards with dog walkers, horse riders.
The village surgery which is currently at breaking point would have to cope with additional patients, and of course the school has little or no places.
Of course the pubs would profit nicely from the increased patrons.
All of the above comments have been aired previously to the committees.
I believe my comments above will fall on deaf ears and this proposal will be approved and carried through regardless.
