Representation: - Village infrastructure is already at near capacity (schools, GP surgery, roads/congestion)..No additional provision is being suggested.
- Battleswick IS a GREEN FIELD site (not like the Wharf which is brown field); should not be considered and derelict to preserving area's ecology.
- Flooding risk will increase with inevitable downhill 'run-off';

Original submission

I object to 'Policy SS14: Land to the south of Battleswick Farm, Rowhedge Road' on several 'counts'..
1 It is recognised that the village is running at very near capacity in terms of basic infrastructure (eg: local schools and GP surgery near full) and will be under extra pressure with the development of Rowhedge Wharf. The proposal of a further 60 houses at Battleswick Farm will compound the already lack of adequate provision.
2 Battleswick Farm is a valuable green field site, providing protection for wild flora and fauna,and an environmental 'buffer' from urbanised ribbon-development of Colchester. (NB: Rowhedge Wharf, a brown-field site, is better suited for development).
3 Increased traffic on minor roads will create congestion and increase the pressure on the centre of the village, and increase pollution levels.
4 'Run-off' from the development would add to flood risk locally, especially as the land falls downhill to the village. NB: SuDs has not effectively managed the flooding at the Hythe development (Haven Road) where there is less rise and fall of land.
