Representation: Objection on the grounds of quantity of proposed housing, sustainability, location and damage to the character and nature of Langham Village.

Original submission

My family have lived in Langham for 3 generations and I have seen the village thrive, and grow organically and sustainably over my lifetime. The proposal for 125 new properties in the village would represent a 35% increase in the housing stock and possibly a 50% increase in the village population, in an unnecessarily high density in the centre of Langham. I believe this is grossly disproportionate, unsustainable within current infrastructures and services, and represents the destruction of the special character of what is essentially a rural hamlet.
My own view would be that the village could sustainably support between 50-75 new properties over the development period of 15 years.
