The proposal of an extra 350 homes in Mersea is both unsustainable & dangerous.
The town is already stretched to breaking point with the school full, the doctors full & turning people away and the roads in dire need of repair.
An extra 350 homes would only exacerbate the issues above. Dawes Lane is ill equipped to cope with more housing - the road is too narrow, bumpy and dangerous, with potholes. The extra traffic on the road would lead to disaster. This also applies to the rest of the island too.
The sewage system is already struggling with the numbers already here, and an extra 1000+ people would make this worse.
The school is full, with children having to go off island for schooling,
The doctors is full to breaking point - where it's not uncommon to have a 2 week delay for an appointment.
