We believe that the proposed numbers of additional dwellings should be taken as a minimum requirement to satisfy the needs of the Colchester area, including the District Centres and villages. The proposed allocation for Tiptree at 600 dwellings. Whilst this figure appears to have been identified by Colchester Borough Council (CBC) and Tiptree Parish Council (TPC) it is unclear as to exactly what the evidence base is that has informed the number of dwellings.
Sites identified by the Strategic Land Availability Assessment (SLAA) as being "Green" or "Amber" could deliver approximately 764 dwellings and this increased amount would help to ensure the needs of the area are satisfied and the requisite infrastructure is provided. The figure of 600 dwellings should be taken as a minimum requirement as a result.
