Currently School Lane is access to the Oaks Academy, the Langham Primary School, the Langham Pre-school, the Community Centre and Community Shop and an Industrial site housing Power Plus Engineering and Whitnall Contractors which uses up to 44 ton vehicles and various other units. This road is also the bus route and at certain times can have many taxis delivering children to the Oaks Academy, up to 50 vehicles dropping off children to the Primary School, cars going to the Community Centre, Community Shop and Pre-School. Vehicles going to the car park to use the park facilities as well as the traffic into and out of the Industrial site. The road, in places is just about passable for two cars and is partially paved but not continuously. School road also floods near the Community Centre.

Both the Pre-school and the Primary school are currently at full capacity.

To suggest adding 115 new homes, with perhaps another 115 plus cars movements along with the obvious increase in children seems a recipe for a potential disaster. How do you propose to cater for the potential cocktail on a road , so narrow, which at times, seems very dangerous.

I have no objection to development along School Road, but its size and the relocation of the industrial area must be seriously considered along with a car park near the primary school. I understand the Essex Local Authority retained that land for this purpose. The Primary school also needs to expand in order to satisfy the new demand. (Once again the school has recently been rebuffed by the LA on classroom expansion). I also believe that if the area between Whitnalls and the Community Centre is to be developed, then the Park and its Parking area should be expanded, using some of that land. Any builder with proposal for a substantial development should be required to up grade the park's play facilities and provide further landscaped space in accordance with the area. The Whitnall's Industrial Site is now trading outside it's original planning remit and should be located out of the village near to the A12.
